The Plange Mühle is a former flour mill that was built between 1906 and 1934 and is a listed building. Ingenhoven Architekten converted the historic building into a high-quality office building in loft style. Strotmann & Partner was commissioned to clean, restore and conserve the concrete, plaster and brick surfaces inside the building. Their meticulous work demonstrated their commitment to preserving the architectural heritage.
Every detail was taken into account to preserve the authenticity and original aesthetics of the surfaces. The result is a perfect harmony between past and present, where historical elements live harmoniously with the needs and requirements of modern living and working spaces.
Wall before restoration. Concrete surface with heavily damaged and crumbling plaster.
The surface was completely renovated. All superfluous elements were removed and treated with a glaze. The surface is smooth, but the old industrial naturalness remains.
Before the renovation, the wall is too unstable and has damage.
After the restoration, the wall has taken on a very raw and industrial look.
Leaking formwork and leaking cement slurry.
Heavily damaged formwork concrete visible in the vault. Cement accumulation and dark colouration.
Before the treatment of the vaults, many formwork joints are leaking, defects in the area of the formwork joints.
A perfect shell concrete appearance is achieved after concrete cosmetics and surface reconstruction.
