At 215 Chrystie Street in New York, all formwork elements such as entrance arches, columns, walls and ceilings were restored and upgraded with concrete cosmetics.
Pores and voids in exposed concrete surfaces can be problematic. Voids and compaction errors occur during the production of the component. Insufficient compaction after casting and irregularities of the concrete during placement can be the cause. These aspects are considered weak points as they allow water and other harmful substances to penetrate and thus contribute to corrosion of the steel reinforcement.
Restoration and partial retouching closed the voids and restored the appearance and colour of the columns, ceilings and structural elements such as the concrete facades.
